An ancient Chinese poem

Submitted by ian on Thu, 03/20/2008 - 15:29.

Sent as a present from Amman
A red cockatoo
Coloured like a peach tree blossom
Speaking the speech of men

And they did to it what is always done
to the learned and eloquent
They got a cage with stout bars
And shut it up inside.

Po Chu, 772-846AD
